How I started to love Mondays
We all hate Mondays. I’m a proud sleep lover and Monday for me has always been the day when the part of the week in which I can sleep a bit more, the weekend, was gone. But it’s not only about sleep: the worst part of Mondays is saying goodbye to the time with the family and, worst of all, starting the commuting routine again.
So, what’s the recipe to make Mondays better? For me this is what makes them better: achieving something in the first 2 hours after I woke up. This probably means something work related, but can also mean something I can be proud of, like a blog post or doing something I’ve been pushing for days, something I really want to finish.
Most of the time on a Monday morning I just go to work late and start working earlier then usual, but from home. Work starts with careful planning of what to do in the next 2 hours. What happen next then is just work, but with a very result driven mindset, no distraction, no internet except for the team chat. As soon as I finish the thing I decided to do, I just leave and enjoy the commute: in this case the commute is my prize for the first thing I got done during this week and it’s the first, deserved break of the day.
